Scholarships & Awards for International Students
A starting point of well-known scholarships for international students in Canada, grouped by how they are awarded. This is not a complete list, so always confirm current eligibility, amounts, and deadlines on the official page, and keep searching for external funding.
Scholarships offered by Canadian Institutions
Entrance & merit awardsMost Canadian universities and colleges automatically consider you for entrance scholarships when you apply for admission — no separate form needed. These awards are merit-based, decided on your academic record, and usually appear with, or shortly after, your Letter of Acceptance.
University entrance scholarships
Most universities run their own merit-based entrance awards. You are considered automatically when you apply, and amounts and criteria appear on each university's international awards page.

Many public colleges offer automatic entrance awards with no separate application — often renewable and credited straight to your student account.

Full-ride, nomination requiredFully funded scholarships cover most or all of your costs — tuition, fees, books, and residence — but they are extremely competitive and reserved for the very top students. Only a few Canadian universities offer them to international undergraduates, and the requirements are strict.
- Be a recent high school graduate — usually graduated no more than 6 months before you apply.
- Be nominated by your high school. Without your school's nomination, the university will not consider you.
- Apply to at least one undergraduate program at the university — that means submitting a full admission application and paying the application fee.
- Have outstanding grades. You need to be among the very best students, not just meet the minimum.
- Show where you excel and lead — standout achievements, impact, and strengths inside and outside the classroom.
