THE COST OF STUDYING IN CANADA
“The one asset that appreciates without fail
is the investment you make in yourself.”
Estimate the cost of studying in Canada
Tuition
• Undergraduate: University – from CA $18,000/year | College - from CA $15,000/year• Graduate: University - from CA $10,000/year
Living costs (excluding rent)
Budget CA $675 – $875 / month for groceries, local transport, phone/data, books and a bit of fun.
Accommodation
• On-campus dorm: CA $550 – $600 / month
• Shared off-campus apartment: CA $950 – 1 300 /month
• Private studio in a major city: CA $2 000 + /month
Can part-time work cover it?
Current rules allow most international students to work up to 24 hours/week off-campus during semesters.
At student minimum wage (CA $16.60/h) that’s roughly CA $1 440 before tax—usually enough for food and a share of rent, but nowhere near your tuition bill. Treat it as a buffer, not your primary source of funding.
